When you download a mod file it will usually come in one of three file types.
1. EXE – These are the easiest to install. Once the file has downloaded just double click on it and when it runs it will install itself, done, run the game and test it.
2. RAR – These are compressed files, these can contain any files or folders which have been compressed to make downloading quicker. When the download finishes you need to extract all the files within the rar file. You will usually end up with either exe files or zip files. RAR files are also used for the map downloads and will usually require extracting to your data folder.
3. ZIP – These too are compressed files. Check to see what files are contained within them. If there are zip or exe files then these will need to be extracted and exe files run. If a zip
file contains the mod itself then the zip file needs to be copied into the mods folder of the game.
XP: User\My Games\FarmingSimulator2009\Mods
Vista: Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator2009\Mods.
Don’t forget that if you have the German version the folder names will be slightly different.
Windows XP and later will open zip files but you will need Winrar or a similar program to open rar files. These programs will also work with zip files.
Only ZIP files will work in the mods folder. RAR files will not work.

i’ve downloaded this mod “John Deere 9770 STS combine – FIXED pack” and can’t get it to show up on the game under the mods tab. I can get all the other mods to show up but not this one, does anyone have any suggestion on why?

If you have winrar use it, if not download it
Here is a guide to help you download mods.
1.Open internett
2.Go to you mod site
3.Chose your mod
4.Click download
5.Go to Downloads and find the mod you downloaded and copy it
6.After you have copyed your mod go to:If you using vista or win 7 go to: Documents/ My games/ Farming Simulator 2011/ Mods and just paste it into your mod map.
7.Klick on the mod, and Extract to (your mods name)
8.Now you have a map in the mod map with your mod.
9.Open FS 2011 and go to the store and buy your mod

Hello I am have problems download mods onto farm 2009, I download it using winrar and i put all the files on a usb stick to start with and then I go onto my documents open file location for farm simulator and I dont know where to copy the mod too. It doesnt have a specified folder or reall good instructions. Can you give me a step by step how to do it please. Someone said something about creating a mod pathe and i can just copy the folders but I dont know what to do.

ok here is how to install mods if it is a zip click on it and see if the mod is in there if there is a exe then unzip the file and run it if it contains the mod, move the foler to (username)> documents>my games>farming simulator 2011 (or 2009)>mods if it does not work then it was probably designed for another version. if it is a rar it should contain zips if it contains the mod then put all those files into a zip this is for vista so don’t ask me for other sistims also to un-zip the rar’s u can get 7-zip for free! (P.S moderators im not trying to spam just trying to help ok?)

if your mod does not show up in the sim, even if you are running ls 2011 or ls2009 you should go to the web site you downloaded from and check if your mod is specified for the farming sim version you are running. feks.. it will probably stand something like this next to the download thumbnail: ls 2011 mods, or ls 2009 mods

ok, i had probs with this for a long time.
ok, 1#: find a mod that you want to download. 2#: save and download the file to: ocuments\My Games\FarmingSimulator2009\Mods, the zip file may have to zips in a zip file so if thats the case, get winzip and open the file, there will be to or more files copy and paste the files in the mods folder.3#: start the game.4#: have fun

If your on OS X lion you will notice that the library folder is gone, so when you open finder hit command+shift+g then type in ~/Library copy and past that exact thing into the box then click go, it will come up with the library then go into application support/farming simulator 2011/mods. then just drag the .zip file into the mods folder and go in game! Took me forever to figure it out but its easy once you get it

hi i need some major help to add mods from my documents to the game itself. I just bought the game and trying to load a file for a Ford 350 truck andi added the RaR program but it would show up on document as a ZIP what steps could i get to do so?

When I download a file, it works fine, but there are no exe files in the zipfolder. Im not sure how to get the mod onto the game without an exe. Any help would be greatly appreaciated! you can email me at brockayers@hotmail.com THANKS!

I have farming simulator 2009 but it do not work on my windows xp computer so i put it on my windows 7 laptop and it works but the laptop is not on the internet but the windows xp is. so is there a way to put mods in the game using the windows xp computer with out putting the laptop on the internet
